Job Description

Minimum Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required 2 years of experience in telecommunications, construction coordination, or dispatching Strong organizational and scheduling skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) Ability to read maps, construction drawings, and fibre network layouts Preferred Qualifications Experience in fibre optic or telecommunications infrastructure Familiarity with GIS mapping systems or locate ticket management software Key Responsibilities Ticket Management Monitor and manage all incoming locate requests through the 811 locates system Review, categorize, and prioritize tickets based on urgency and due dates Ensure all locate requests are responded to within legally mandated timelines Maintain accurate records of all completed and pending locate tickets Compliance and Damage Prevention Ensure compliance with state excavation and utility protection regulations Verify that all fibre infrastructure is properly marked prior to excavation Maintain documentation for regulatory audits and reporting Assist with incident investigations related to underground utility damages Communication and Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact between contractors, excavation companies, and internal teams Provide status updates on locate tickets to operations, construction, and project teams Escalate urgent or high-risk tickets that may impact network infrastructure Coordinate with maintenance and construction teams regarding ongoing work in the field Reporting and Documentation Maintain locate ticket logs, completion reports, and performance metrics Generate reports on ticket volume, response times, and compliance metrics Track recurring excavation activities or high-risk areas affecting fibre infrastructure Performance Metrics On-time ticket completion rate Damage prevention performance Ticket backlog management Field technician efficiency Compliance with regulatory response times Working Conditions Primarily office-based with regular communication with field personnel May require occasional after-hours support for emergency locate requests Ability to handle multiple tickets and deadlines simultaneously Working hours: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (Monday to Friday) From the 2nd Sunday of March until the 1st Sunday of November 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Monday to Friday) From the 1st Sunday in November until the 2nd Sunday of March US public holidays will apply. South African public holidays will not apply
