Cape Town City Centre: Financial Controller

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee our finance function in Cape Town City Centre, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial accounting, leadership, and management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journals, general ledger reconciliations, and management accounts
  • Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management and the board
  • Perform variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, highlighting risks and opportunities
  • Manage cash flow, prepare rolling forecasts, and ensure all obligations are met
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and calculate monthly depreciation
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely collections and payments
  • Lead the annual budgeting and forecasting process in collaboration with management
  • Ensure compliance with SARS, including VAT, EMP201, UIF, and statutory submissions
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and manage audit deliverables
  • Oversee grant and donor fund reporting, ensuring compliance with funding requirements

Requirements

  • Minimum 35 years of financial accounting experience
  • At least 2 years in a management role
  • Strong experience with reconciliations, monthly reporting, and financial controls
  • Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and board-level reporting
  • Experience within an NPO, donor-funded, or highly regulated environment (advantageous)

Qualifications

  • Diploma OR BCom Degree in Finance or Accounting OR Equivalent
