Job Description
Hire Resolve’s client is actively seeking a skilled and motivated Client Accountant to join their dynamic team in Johannesburg.
The client operates as a specialist Cell Captive insurance company, specialising in Corporate Risk Finance, Alternative Distribution, and Underwriting Management Agencies sectors. Reporting to the Head of Operational Finance, the Client Accountant will play a pivotal role in accurately processing underwriting results and financial transactions per client, ensuring precise and timely reporting of financial data.
Responsibilities:
- Efficiently process underwriting results per client onto the general ledger, covering premium, reinsurance premium, claims, recoveries, commissions, and fees
- Manage reserves per client on the general ledger, including outstanding claims, Incurred but Not Reported (IBNR), unearned premium reserve, and corresponding reinsurance portions
- Accurately handle income tax per client on the general ledger
- Record cashbook transactions and any essential journal entries per client on the general ledger
- Prepare meticulous Balance Sheet reconciliations per client
- Generate client financial statements, policy statements, and other necessary financial reports
- Supervise the collection of premium and reinsurance debtors
- Facilitate payments to reinsurers and the submission of reinsurance bordereaux
- Oversee payments to administrators and other creditors linked to the client portfolio
- Responsively address client queries and attend essential client meetings
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or a related field
- Showcase proven work experience in a comparable accounting role
- Preferred experience within the insurance industry
- Demonstrate efficient information gathering and handling abilities
- Maintain a strong deadline-oriented mindset and excel under pressure
- Exemplify exceptional teamwork skills, energy, and resilience in a dynamic environment
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiently understand and apply accounting principles, income tax, and Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Familiarity with VAT and insurance accounting is advantageous
