Responsibilities

• Automate repetitive data workflows to improve processing efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

• Build and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for accurate and streamlined data collection, transformation, and storage.
• Maintain thorough documentation of data processes, systems, and workflows for transparency and future reference.
• Integrate data from various sources, including APIs, databases, and external platforms, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Manage and enhance database systems with a focus on data integrity, performance, and security.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure for efficient data flow and management.

Requirements

• Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Knowledge of big data tools and technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
• Experience with data pipeline and workflow management tools.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python.
• Experience with cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehousing solutions (e.g., Redshift, BigQuery).
• Familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
• Experience: Proven experience as a Data Engineer, Data Architect, or in a similar role.
• Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Minimum Requirements:

• Working knowledge of SQL and database fundamentals.

• Familiarity with AWS cloud architecture and services (S3, Lambda, RDS).

• Exposure to data science tools or concepts, including Deep Learning or LLMs.

• Experience with low-code/no-code platforms like KNIME or Fowgear.

• Basic understanding of Git and GitHub for version control.

• Experience building or maintaining Power BI reports.

• Own the full lifecycle of the product/platform from ideation to release

• Develop and maintain the product roadmap aligned with business objectives

• Translate business requirements into detailed product specifications and user stories

• Work closely with engineering teams to build and enhance the platform

• Define and prioritize the product backlog

• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality tech solutions

• Act as the primary liaison between internal stakeholders (CEO, COO, engineering, sales) and development teams

• Gather and prioritize feature requests and feedback from users or clients

• Run and manage the product independently with minimal oversight

• Experience working in or with companies that build their own technology products

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Analytical mindset with ability to use data to drive decisions

• Agile/Scrum methodology experience

• Experience with Salesforce is a strong advantage

• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment

• Must be able to work from the office in Johannesburg (hybrid may be considered)
