Job Description

Role Purpose The purpose of this role is to prepare accurate technical cost estimations, provide detailed specifications, and deliver industry-leading, cost-effective solutions to clients within the construction sector. The Estimator will ensure competitive tender submissions aligned with project scope, regulatory standards, and company profitability objectives. Minimum Qualifications NQF 6 Qualification in Business Management, Cost Management, Finance, Construction Management or similar (required) In the absence of a relevant qualification, proven experience at the required level will be considered Experience Required 23 years experience as an Estimator within the construction industry (non-negotiable) Proven experience preparing and compiling Bills of Quantities (BOQs) Demonstrated experience working with CCS (Candy Construction Software) Experience with tender adjudication processes Key Responsibilities 1. Project Estimation & Pricing Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects Interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation Compile and price Bills of Quantities (BOQs) Conduct site visits when required to verify scope and conditions Prepare and submit tenders within required deadlines 2. Technical Expertise Provide technical input during the tender stage Ensure compliance with relevant building standards and regulations Liaise with engineers, project managers, and clients regarding technical queries 3. Pricing & Estimation Administration Maintain accurate costing databases and supplier pricing records Obtain supplier and subcontractor quotations Perform cost comparisons and value engineering exercises Prepare detailed costing breakdowns and reports 4. Risk, Quality & Compliance Identify commercial and project risks during the tender phase Ensure all estimates comply with company standards and contractual requirements Assist in contract handover to project teams 5. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement Prepare estimation reports for management review Present tender summaries and pricing strategies Engage professionally with internal and external stakeholders 6. Mentorship & Team Contribution Provide guidance to junior estimators where applicable Contribute to continuous improvement of estimation processes Core Competencies Strong technical estimation skills Proficiency in CCS (Candy Construction Software) Knowledge of construction contracts and pricing structures Strong analytical and numerical ability Excellent report writing and communication skills High attention to detail Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
