Job Description

Key Competencies: The basic duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Financial Planning & Analysis Define financial requirements. Assess these requirements in financial terms, determining what is achievable using available financial resources through costing all aspects of these requirements. Provide a roadmap to support the budgeting process. Budget Management: Forecast estimates for the predicted use of financial resources against the budgeted financial resources during a given fiscal year or period. Implement procedures for consolidation of cash flow, working capital, CAPEX decisions, risk management, funding, ratio analysis and Forex transactions. Allocate funds to specific accounts in the chart of accounts. Monitor the actual use of financial resources against the approved budget and identify variances. Adjust the approved budget under directives from appropriate management and/or in response to variances between planned and actual expenditures. Report findings and action taken to the appropriate authorities. Providing analysis of revenue and expense trends, compilation of various business assumptions and ensuring the accurate computation of budget and forecast numbers for the Company into the reporting system. Interrogate the budgeting process and implement improvements where necessary. Financial reporting and management: Oversight of finance functions across the Company and its subsidiaries and the MDs other businesses, including responsibility for financial accuracy and financial control across South Africa and other countries. Ensure robust financial reporting including the preparation of monthly management accounts and quarterly statutory reports, review of journals and Statement of Financial Position reconciliations etc. Periodic reviews of country Statements of Financial Position and interrogation of significant movements, significant balances and disbursements. Design and implement financial/ business controls and test operating effectiveness. Ensure adherence to month-end process deadlines to comply with the Companys reporting requirements. Preparation and review of the Companys consolidated and stand-alone financial statements. Review of country financial statements and management accounts. Responsible for preparation and review of dashboards (flash/weekly/monthly) and reporting on key performance drivers, trend analysis, business wins and losses as well as recommending remedial actions. Prepare and review management accounts with variances (analysis and commentary) on a monthly basis within the time frames stipulated – providing relevant insight into the financial results and trends. Provide quality management reporting relating to business performance across the Company, trend analysis etc. and decide and implement appropriate remedial actions where necessary. Ensure timeous delivery of all financial quarterly reports and ad-hoc financial report submissions. Ensure execution of all ad-hoc financial projects as and when required. Management & Control: Assume responsibility for and take ownership of the Finance department. Comply with the legal and statutory framework of policies, business processes, procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on use and disposition of financial resources, including adequate internal controls . Establish, maintain, and apply an institution-specific framework of policies, business processes , procedures and standards pertaining to recording, classifying, monitoring, and reporting on the use and disposition of financial resources. Ensure that quarterly, half year, and year end financials and tax packs are completed and that VAT, PAYE and other statutory payments are prepared and processed timeously. Liaise with SARS, and address and resolve all queries. Performance Measurement: Produce financial reporting which is the recording and presentation of financial statements that show the organizations financial position, operating performance and cash flow over a period of time through the use of financial statements. Create management reports on a regular basis that are relevant to decision-making processes, measuring performance against measures and targets (output and outcomes) established during finance management planning, against budget objectives, and/or against financial management performance standards used within the industry. Evaluating and analysing findings and exploring options for corrective action. Working capital & Capital management: Monitor key liquidity and capital metrics. Preparation of Company cash flow forecasts and application for funding if required. Monitor long outstanding receivables and follow through on recovery with country concerned. Manage the register of fixed assets for the Company. Business analysis, intelligence and reporting: Support the business with the relevant insight, analysis and management information required to assist in decision making processes and support the management of the business. Perform client and product profitability analysis which include client profitability tracking against agreed plans. Assist with the compilation of Quarterly Business Review presentations and Market reports. Structure the chart of accounts to enable bespoke reporting, profitability by product and client. Strategic support: Obtain a close understating of the external and internal environment of Company. Assist with business strategy formulation and monitoring. Perform feasibility studies. Strategic analysis of alternate business lines and streams. Tracking and reporting on the progress on strategic initiatives (financial and non-financial indicators). Assurance Support (compliance, risk, internal audit, company secretarial and legal): Primary liaison between Company and internal and external audits. Jointly liaise with regulators in markets concerning either internal or market challenges as well as new legislation, licence applications and renewals. Maintain repository of all business contracts. Human Resources: Improve the efficiency and accuracy of the Financial Department of the Company by accurately and effectively planning, organising, maintaining and managing the Human resources that report to you to the best of your ability at all times. Ensure the Human resources that report to you are empowered, trained, coached, supported and mentored. Ensure that employee turnover is low, talented employees are retained, employee relations are effectively maintained, and where necessary Industrial relations and discipline is fairly and consistently applied. General: Improve the overall profitability of the Company by accurately and effectively planning, organising, maintaining and managing the Financial Manager function to the best of your ability at all times. General duties and ad hoc tasks, projects and requests when required. Key Requirements: South African citizen and ID, residing in Johannesburg. Matric and B. Com Accounting / Finance is essential. (Preference will be given to candidates who are a qualified CA(SA).) Current, valid, legal South African drivers licence and own vehicle. Proven track record of experience and solid performance in a similar role effectively managing the Finances of a large Company. Minimum 5-10 years post articles experience, ideally diverse experience including group reporting, financial analysis with strategy and risk involvement, tax and company law etc. Minimum 5-10 years experience in a comparable financial manager role, with experience in financial control and management reporting and a natural talent for figures. Experience in creating and maintaining strong external relationships with banks, auditors and other stakeholders. Highly computer literate, with exceptional advanced proficiency in MS office, IT, payroll (VIP) and reporting systems. Experience in effectively and confidently managing and leading a finance team and others as required. Forex experience with solid understanding of International financial concepts experience will be advantageous. Excellent communication skills at all levels. Experience working on SYSPRO will be highly advantageous. Exceptional confidentiality, attention to detail and accuracy is essential and necessary, and all tasks must be carried out to the highest standards.
