About the Role

The Front of House Manager is a key position responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the State Theatre’s front of house, including managing budgets, facilities, stock, and human resources. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and be able to develop strategy, policies, and procedures to enhance the overall patron experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop Strategy, policies and procedures for front of house
  • Ensure that shows are well coordinated in accordance with their uniqueness and presentation
  • Manage and present State Theatre patrons in a good and acceptable state, offering them a unique experience that will bring them back
  • Maintain State Theatre standards and value to ensure the theatre is well managed and presentable for audiences
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective running of shows and manage dependencies
  • Control access rights for all patrons, ensuring they are well catered for
  • Manage and coordinate hospitality riders for all relevant stakeholders
  • Effective running of all functions associated with all venues and foyers
  • Maintain effective internal and external communication
  • Facilitate meetings with potential clients and other relevant stakeholders
  • Manage departmental finances, including revenue generated from sales
  • Hire front of house staff, manage contractors and sub-contractors
  • Compile statistics reports for senior management
  • Manage the front and back of the restaurant effectively, benchmarking with modern restaurant operations
  • Plan weekly activities, assign responsibilities to staff, and conduct performance plans and reviews

Requirements

  • BCom Degree in business Management or equivalent
  • 3 Years management experience
  • Leadership skills

Qualifications

  • Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
