About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Animal Caretaker to join our team at Paterson, where you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation and release of animals. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and providing exceptional guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Animal husbandry with a hands-off approach for rehabilitating and releasing animals
- Cleaning of enclosures, feeding equipment, and education centre
- Conducting educational talks and guided tours for guests and volunteers
- Accurately following written and verbal animal care instructions and treatment plans
- Ensuring adherence to all safety, welfare, and organisational protocols
- Demonstrating strong time management and organisational skills
- Monitoring animal behaviour and reporting concerns to senior staff or management
Requirements
- Grade 11 or 12 Diploma/short course in animal studies or related field (advantageous)
- Minimum of 1 year work experience in wildlife rehabilitation and/or husbandry
- Proficiency in English (isiXhosa and/or Afrikaans advantageous)
