About the Role
We are seeking an experienced IFRS 17 Technical Specialist to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our finance team, you will lead the implementation and interpretation of IFRS standards across the organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will develop and maintain accounting policies, oversee financial reporting processes, and provide technical guidance on complex transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement accounting policies to ensure compliance with IFRS 17 and other insurance-related standards
- Oversee financial reporting processes, including GAAP conversions and preparation of statutory accounts
- Provide technical guidance on complex transactions and support business units with accounting treatment
- Partner with senior stakeholders to deliver strategic financial advice and support decision-making
- Manage and mentor a team of finance professionals to ensure high-quality deliverables
Requirements
- Minimum 7 years experience in financial services, with exposure to the insurance sector preferred
- Strong background in technical accounting and advisory services
- Proven experience with IFRS 17 implementation and other insurance-related standards
- Previous experience in Big 4 audit/advisory and leadership roles
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Deep knowledge of IFRS and GAAP frameworks
Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) designation is non-negotiable.
