About the Role
Network Finance is seeking a Senior Specialist: Capital Management (Banking) to operate as a key strategic partner to the Head of Capital, supporting executive committees, regulatory engagement, and capital optimisation decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and lead the monthly capital reporting cycle, including capital ratios, movement analysis, and executive narrative for CET1, Tier 1, and Total Capital.
- Review, challenge, and formally sign off capital MI produced by junior team members.
- Oversee regulatory capital submissions across legal entity and consolidated group levels.
- Ensure strong governance, reconciliation integrity, data lineage, and control evidence in line with global regulatory expectations (e.g. BCBS239 / RDARR principles).
- Drive continuous improvement of capital MI frameworks, reporting tools, and analytical dashboards.
- Lead capital planning and forecasting across legal entities and consolidated group structures.
- Maintain and enhance capital forecasting models and stress testing frameworks.
- Challenge key assumptions across RWA, earnings, impairments, FX, and balance sheet growth.
- Assess capital adequacy, buffer strength, and optimisation levers including capital actions, distributions, and balance sheet strategies.
- Develop forward-looking capital trajectories to support executive and Board decision-making.
- Lead preparation and review of capital content for senior governance forums, including: Capital and Risk Committees, Executive Management Committees, and Board-level reporting packs.
- Translate complex capital movements into clear, structured, decision-focused narratives.
- Ensure reporting clearly articulates risks, sensitivities, trade-offs, and required management actions.
- Lead quality assurance of ICAAP submissions, ensuring consistency across quantitative outputs and narrative documentation.
- Coordinate ICAAP governance packs and support regulatory engagement and review readiness.
- Ensure alignment between capital models, stress testing frameworks, governance documentation, and regulatory expectations.
- Drive cross-functional alignment between Finance, Risk, Treasury, and Model Development teams.
- Coach and develop junior analysts and senior associates in capital frameworks, governance standards, and executive reporting quality.
- Establish and enforce high standards for documentation, validation, and sign-off discipline.
- Drive continuous enhancement of capital processes, controls, and analytical capability within the team.

- Accurate, high-confidence monthly capital reporting pack with executive-grade narrative.
- Fully governed and controlled regulatory capital submissions across group structures.
- ICAAP deliverables that meet internal and external regulatory standards with strong auditability.
- Board and executive committee materials that enable informed capital allocation and risk decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
- CA(SA), CFA, FRM/PRM, or equivalent postgraduate qualification (NQF Level 7+ or international equivalent).
- 7–12+ years’ experience in capital management, regulatory reporting, treasury, or financial risk within a banking or financial services environment.
- Proven track record of owning end-to-end regulatory capital deliverables at senior level.
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, executive committees, or regulatory bodies.

- Deep expertise in regulatory capital frameworks (Basel III/IV, ICAAP, RWA, capital buffers).
- Strong governance mindset with experience in control frameworks and regulatory audit readiness.
- Exceptional executive communication and storytelling ability.
- Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional outcomes.
- Strong analytical judgement with the ability to challenge complex financial assumptions.
