Johannesburg: Senior BI Developer – Johannesburg – up to R1.2mil per annum posted by E-Merge

A dynamic healthcare non-profit organisation with vast experience in providing both direct service delivery and technical assistance, coupled with its multiple innovations for precision programming in South Africa, has created a role for a Senior BI Developer who will be responsible for translating business needs to technical specifications and designing, building and deploying BI solutions (e.g., data warehousing models) and creating visualizations and reports for requested projects.

Responsibilities:

• Build enterprise scalable, complex data visualizations, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and KRI reports, etc. in Power BI
• Proficient in DAX and M queries
• Make recommendations on Enterprise BI standards/best practices
• Experience Power BI and SSRS administration for on premises and cloud Services
• Perform, communicate and make actionable recommendations of database, statistical and report findings
• Provide guidance to other BI developers with oversight from the BI Managers and Leads
• Develop, create and deliver custom reports in SQL, SSRS, Excel
• Work with the team in data modelling, database design, creating efficient SQL for fast application performance
• Analyse performance optimization opportunities of stored procs, SSIS packages and do performance tuning for optimum results
• Create/Maintain technical documentations for all developed applications
• Production experience working with at least modern modelling tools – on premise and / or in the cloud (e.g. MS SQL, Analysis Services, Power BI, Azure Synapse Analytics)
• Production experience working with DAX modelling measures (e.g. Power BI, Analysis Services, DAX Studio, Tabular Editor or other external tools used with Power BI Desktop)
• Experience with relational databases (SQL/PLSQL/Hive) and leveraging large data sets within a data warehouse (Hadoop, Oracle, MySQL)

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant tertiary or qualification or diploma
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in BI Development
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in SQL development
• Relevant Microsoft Certification (SQL developer) will be beneficial.
• Proven experience as a BI Developer for data warehouses
• Proven work experience as a SQL Developer
