About the Role

We are seeking a highly analytical Senior Estimator with strong commercial acumen to join our dynamic Africa Operations team in Kempton Park/Johannesburg. This permanent role is critical to supporting business growth through the preparation of accurate, competitive, and commercially sound cost estimates for large-scale construction and engineering projects across the African continent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing accurate cost models including labor, materials, plant, and indirect costs.
  • Analyzing tender documentation, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Identifying commercial, technical, and operational risks early in the tender stage.
  • Evaluating subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Supporting value engineering initiatives to enhance project profitability.
  • Participating in tender clarification meetings and conducting periodic site inspections within Africa.

Requirements

  • Education: Tertiary qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Estimating Experience: 58 years of estimating experience within construction, engineering, or infrastructure environments.
  • Site Experience: Minimum 58 years of hands-on site experience in the construction industry.
  • Project Scope: Proven track record in preparing estimates for large-scale construction or EPC projects.
  • Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in CCS (Candy), Buildsmart, and MS Excel.
  • Contracts: Strong working knowledge of FIDIC, NEC, or JBCC contract forms.
