Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated and technically-minded Internal Sales Consultant to join our dynamic team in Benoni. The successful candidate will support customers from quotation through to order fulfilment, manage key relationships, and work closely with production and logistics to ensure client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
? Sales & Customer Interaction
- Handle incoming sales enquiries via phone, email, and walk-ins.
- Prepare accurate quotations, pricing, and tenders based on client requirements and technical specs.
- Provide product advice and recommend solutions aligned with customer needs.
- Maintain active communication with clients to follow up on quotes and outstanding orders.
- Upsell and cross-sell complementary products (e.g. slabs, lids, bases, rings).
? Order Management
- Capture orders accurately in the system and confirm delivery timelines.
- Coordinate with dispatch/logistics to ensure JIT (Just-In-Time) delivery where applicable.
- Track orders through the manufacturing process to proactively inform clients of progress or delays.
? Administration & Reporting
- Maintain an up-to-date sales pipeline and daily sales tracker.
- Assist with customer credit applications and documentation.
- Resolve account or delivery issues in liaison with the finance and logistics teams.
? Team & Product Knowledge
- Maintain a strong technical knowledge of precast concrete products and their applications.
- Stay updated on new product ranges, technical developments, and SABS compliance standards.
- Collaborate with the external sales team on leads, site visits, or joint project quotes.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12) – required
- Diploma or technical qualification in Sales, Civil Engineering, or Construction – advantageous
- 2–4 years of internal sales or customer service experience – preferably in building materials, construction supply, or precast concrete
Skills & Competencies
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written & verbal)
- Attention to detail and accuracy in quotations/orders
- Customer-focused with a proactive problem-solving mindset
- Computer literate (MS Office, especially Excel; ERP system knowledge an advantage)
- Ability to interpret basic technical drawings/specifications (advantageous)
