Job Description
- Assist in managing daytoday mining operations (surface or underground).
- Supervise production teams and ensure work plans are executed safely.
- Monitor equipment utilisation, cycle times, and production KPIs.
- Conduct daily planning meetings and toolbox talks.
- Act as a legally appointed competent person under MHSA supervision.
- Enforce compliance with the Mine Health and Safety Act, Codes of Practice, and sitespecific standards.
- Conduct inspections and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Support the implementation of the “Zero Harm” strategy.
- Ensure risk assessments, PTOs, and workplace examinations are carried out effectively.
- Assist with incident investigations and reporting.
- Lead small operational teams.
- Identify training needs and support competency development.
- Ensure adherence to disciplinary and performance management processes.
- Liaise with Engineering, Survey, Geology, and Safety departments.
- Provide accurate shift reports and production feedback.
Job Experience & Skills Required (Ideal Candidate Profile):
- Grade 12 (NQF4) essential.
- Blasting Certificate / Mineral Resources Qualification (advantageous).
- Valid 2.6.1 Assistant Manager appointment or readiness for appointment.
- Minimum 3–5 years mining experience (underground or surface depending on site).
- Supervisory experience beneficial.
