About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Head Chef to join our upmarket game lodge in Kruger National Park. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and presentation of high-quality meals, including both à la carte and buffet options. We require a chef who is well-spoken, has a strong passion for food and cookery, and maintains sober habits.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and manage the kitchen operations
- Prepare and present high-quality meals, including à la carte and buffet options
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Supervise and train junior staff members
- Manage inventory and ordering of ingredients and supplies
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in a game lodge or similar establishment
- Proven track record of running successful kitchen operations
- Strong knowledge of contemporary cuisine and menu planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain sobriety
Qualifications
- Formal education in culinary arts or related field (e.g. BSc in Food Science)
Salary & Benefits
- R26 000 – R32 000 per annum, depending on experience
