About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join our team in Middelburg. As a contractor-type role, you will be responsible for installing, assembling, maintaining, and repairing mechanical equipment and machinery on site. If you have a strong background in mechanical fitting and a keen eye for detail, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, assemble, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment and machinery on site
- Perform routine inspections, fault finding, and preventative maintenance on plant equipment
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Align, fit, and secure components using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Dismantle and reassemble pumps, valves, gearboxes, turbines, and related mechanical systems
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations and site procedures
- Identify mechanical defects and recommend corrective actions
- Work closely with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete job reports
- Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments
- Assist with shutdowns, breakdowns, and emergency repairs as required
Requirements
- Relevant experience in mechanical fitting or a related field
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
