About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Operations Accountant to join our team in Paarl. As a key member of our finance function, you will be responsible for providing financial leadership and support to our branches, driving business growth and optimizing operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse and report financial performance against agreed targets
- Compile accurate monthly management and operational reports
- Coordinate annual branch budgets and capital expenditure planning
- Perform financial feasibility studies and cost analysis for new projects and infrastructure
- Provide decision support and strategic input to senior management and operational stakeholders
- Ensure branch-level financial controls are implemented and maintained in line with company policy
- Support optimization of retail and supply-chain networks
- Advise internal stakeholders on financial systems and applications
- Manage and support the annual external audit process
- Ensure stock counts are conducted in line with policy and investigate/variances
- Drive the collection, analysis and reporting of operational business information
- Assist, train and upskill branch staff on financial systems, policies and procedures
- Ensure ongoing risk management, governance and legal compliance
- Initiate and drive continuous improvement and system enhancements
- Perform regular remote and onsite evaluations of branch controls
Requirements
- Minimum 4 years experience in a similar operations or management accounting role
- Background within Retail, Supply Chain, Agri or FMCG environments – essential
- Advanced Excel expertise (macros, pivots, formulas, lookups)
- Strong analytical capability with a hands-on, solutions-driven mindset
- Confident stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Comfortable operating in a multi-branch, operational environment
Qualifications
Completed BCom Degree OR CIMA qualification
