About the Role
We are seeking a Qualified Auto Electrician to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. As a trusted leader in heavy-duty automatic and manual transmissions for over 30 years, we require expertise in electrical systems of trucks, buses, and earth-moving vehicles with a strong focus on diagnostic and transmission-related electrical work.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair auto electrical faults on heavy-duty transmissions (automatic and manual)
- Install, maintain, and repair wiring, harnesses, sensors, and control systems for transmissions and vehicle electrical systems
- Operate diagnostic tools and specialised equipment for fault finding and calibration
- Perform electrical testing and inspections to ensure safety and compliance with technical standards
- Work alongside mechanics to remove, strip, and refit transmissions , ensuring all electrical systems are correctly integrated
- Conduct dyno testing and record diagnostic results accurately
- Prepare detailed job card reports on electrical work performed
- Assist with on-site breakdowns and call-outs , including testing and repairing electrical issues under pressure
- Support the collection and delivery of parts when required
Requirements
- Trade-tested Auto Electrician (Merseta Red Seal qualification required)
- 35 years relevant experience working on auto electrical systems for heavy-duty vehicles
- Proficient communication skills (read, write, and speak) in Afrikaans and English
- Valid drivers license (Code 10/14 advantageous)
- Own reliable transport
- Good health and physically fit for the role
- Computer literacy (basic/intermediate level) with the ability to operate diagnostic equipment and software
Qualifications
- Formal education/certifications: Merseta Red Seal qualification required
Salary & Benefits
Salary is market-related , depending on qualifications, skills, and experience. (R16K-R26K)
