Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

Staging (order preparation)

  • Direct and coordinate the staging assistants into ensuring they put the orders correctly.
  • Check that all products are organised as per client requirements
  • Ensure that the area is ready for work processing
  • Raise any discrepancies with warehouse picking departments and inform supervisor
  • Organise and prioritise orders according to the plans provided by the Distribution Department.
  • Ensure that all products are staged accurately and efficiently as per customer requirements
  • Check that all documentation details match actual order details.
  • Ensure staging assistants are updated on plans to be staged
  • Update the Staging Controller regarding the status of staging orders in progress
  • Ensure orders are presented to dispatch for loading timeously.

Quality control

  • Ensures that stock is in good quality
  • Performs quality checks on orders picked
  • Liaise with warehouse for any shortfalls
  • Ensure stock does not get damaged when being prepared
  • Check if correct products and the right quantity match the details of the customer order
  • Evaluate the correctness and quality of orders by comparing the contents with the information on the picking slip, e.g. title, quality, ref number, quantity etc.

Food Safety

  • Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained.
  • Handle stock correctly according to food safety.
  • Enforce compliance to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform all work in accordance with company standards and established safety procedures.
  • Ensure appearance and uniform is compliant with food safety requirements.
  • Maintain safe working environment according to company food safety procedures.
  • Familiarise yourself with the food safety rules and hazards and report any risk
  • Comply with food safety rules of no stock on the floor, no stock against walls, etc.
  • Report any observation of pests and non-conformance.

Health and Safety

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Perform warehouse duties in accordance with the highest level of safety and efficiency and meets standards of quality.
  • To use stacking techniques that will prevent damage to product
  • To keep warehouse spotless clean, organized and safe. Respect safety measurements and highlight unsafe situations.
  • Storage equipment kept clean meeting warehouse standards.
  • Ensuring excellent housekeeping in storage areas.
  • Ensuring work areas are kept clean, neat and well-organized
  • Maintain safe working environment according to company procedures.

Additional Tasks

  • Assist dispatch to load trucks.
  • Assist warehouse with stock takes and replenishing
  • Warehouse house keeping .

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12
  • 1 to 2 years experience in warehouse operations in medium to large scale Warehouse environment
  • Proven experience to any role or duties relating to warehousing and stock control
  • Knowledge and experience in safety practices and procedures applicable to handling of food products.
  • FMCG experience highly advantageous
  • First Aid Training/Certification (If not currently held, the company will provide training upon employment)
