About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Embroidery Machine Operator to join our team at Pastel Printers & Embroidery in Pietermaritzburg. As a skilled operator, you will be responsible for ensuring high-quality output and meeting client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate multi-head embroidery machines
• Run and monitor embroidery machines to ensure quality output
• Read and interpret embroidery files (DST, etc.)
• Load and change threads, needles, bobbins, and materials
• Select appropriate threads, fabrics, hoops, and designs for each project
• Analyse project specifications and client requirements
• Troubleshoot machine issues and perform basic repairs
• Perform routine machine maintenance and inventory checks
• Keep accurate records of work orders and update production logs
• Provide design input on placement, fabric, and thread choices
• Communicate with clients to ensure timely and accurate order fulfilment
• Train and guide new staff when required

Requirements

Course in design or related field (advantageous)

Proven experience as an embroidery machine operator or similar role

Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Ability to read and understand instructional manuals

Knowledge of embroidery software and digitizing (advantageous)

Solid understanding of basic machine mechanics

Excellent administrative skills and strong attention to detail

Ability to manage multiple work orders efficiently

Strong communication and customer service skills
