About the Role
Route Management is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Accountant to join our team in Pinetown. As an Accountant, you will be responsible for providing quantitative information on performance, financial position, solvency, liquidity, and cash flows of our business. You will work closely with various departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out all functions and duties as outlined hereunder as well as in respect of any such other duties and responsibilities related to your role which are from time to time assigned to you and which are reasonable and lawful:
- Handling, preparing, computing, managing, researching and analysing all accounting data
- Ensuring accurate and effective yearly budget by anticipating income and expenditure
- Checking on depots to ensure timely and correct invoicing of job packs and manuals
- Analyzing trial balance weekly to ensure authorised expenditure is within budget and make necessary corrections
- Investigating open sales orders and manuals to determine the reason
- Ensuring all credit notes are done and confirmed with relevant documentation
- Ensuring labour posting is done daily
- Ensuring order numbers for all open jobs at workshops on the WIP valuation report
- Checking that all completed jobs are invoiced as soon as it is completed
- Ensuring stock takes take place on scheduled dates and following correct procedures
- Ensuring stores function effectively by ensuring correct procedures is followed when receiving and issuing stock
- Investigating store variances and taking it up with the responsible employee
- Managing minimum and maximum stock levels accordingly
- Investigating slow moving stock to write off, move or return
- Implementing systems, policies and procedures and providing an independent, objective and constructive view
- Engaging in continuous knowledge development in relation to sector rules, regulations, best practices, tools, techniques and performance standards
- Preparing Monthly Creditor recons and reviewing monthly creditors, processing corrections and following up on reconciling items
- Arranging payments and schedules and Processing Payment runs
- Weekly DQ application summary to Logistics and Inventory levels to Director
- Preparing and updating duty payment schedule with VAT and duty %
- Loading internet payments and authorising internet banking payments
- Preparing and reviewing bank recons and assisting to resolve reconciling items
- Following up of month end recurring payments, ensuring all statements has been received
- Preparing Monthly loan account reconciliations and sending to Route
- Posting loan account transactions via journals
- Annual financial statements and preparing budgets year-end
- Preparing summary of monthly Provisions for Bad Debts Report
- Preparing Monthly VAT recons, reviewing and submitting
- Ad hoc tasks, which may include:
- Physical inspection of depots when needed
- Retrieving requested information as required by the Auditors;
- Reviewing sales profitability
- Completion of Capex documents as needed with certain purchases;
Requirements
- Completed Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Completed SAICA / SAIPA Articles
- Excellent computer knowledge (Excel, Word and related financial software)
- Drivers license and own vehicle.
- Must be willing to travel
- Good communication skills and fully bilingual
- Ability to work under pressure
- Accuracy and always on point
- Highly committed and always willing to go an extra mile when required
- Ability to solve problems and queries that may occur
