About the Role

A leading FMCG manufacturing company is seeking a hands-on Production Team Leader with strong technical expertise in moulding and proven team management experience. This role is suited to a qualified artisan who has progressed into a leadership role within a high-speed production environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise day-to-day production team activities
Drive and maintain production efficiencies
Ensure all products meet required quality and compliance standards
Oversee accurate completion of production documentation and tally sheets
Monitor and control raw material usage and wastage
Track machine and mould performance, ensuring optimal output
Manage and coordinate all on-hold / non-conforming products
Ensure correct packing, labelling, and documentation at all machines
Liaise closely with Quality to ensure adherence to product standards
Allocate and manage staff across machines in line with production plans
Provide hands-on technical support on machines when required
Enforce adherence to all health & safety standards
Maintain housekeeping standards

Technical & Operational Duties

Assist with mould changes and machine setups
Support maintenance activities and ensure machine uptime
Drive process optimisation and continuous improvement initiatives
Assist with new product trials and recipe development
Ensure moulds are serviced in line with annual schedules
Manage mould consumables and conduct weekly stock checks
Maintain and control critical machine spares
Ensure preventative maintenance and machine checks are completed
Participate in weekly production meetings

Minimum Requirements

Matric and Trade Tested Fitter & Turner (preferred) or relevant mechanical trade (essential)
Minimum 2 years experience as a Shift Setter in manufacturing
Proven experience managing or directly supervising a production team
Strong technical and mechanical knowledge
Exposure to blow moulding / plastics manufacturing (advantageous)
Experience in a high-speed FMCG production environment
Strong communication skills across all levels
