Resident House Manager – Private Estate – Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape Kendrick Recruitment is searching for a discreet, highly organised and deeply professional Resident House Manager for a private owner-occupied estate comprising two adjacent residences in Plettenberg Bay, Western Cape. This is a permanent, full-time role for an individual or couple who takes genuine pride in creating an impeccably maintained and welcoming home environment. The properties are occupied by the owner and receive a regular flow of personal guests. You will take full ownership of day-to-day operations across both residences, ensuring everything runs seamlessly and to the owner’s exacting standards – without intruding on the household. Confidentiality and discretion are absolute, non-negotiable requirements of this role. Please note: Candidates already based in the Plettenberg Bay area or Garden Route are strongly preferred. Own reliable transport is essential. On-site accommodation may be considered, but candidates with an established local base will be given strong preference. Couples with complementary skills – one focused on guest experience, one on property and staff management – are particularly well suited to this role and are warmly encouraged to apply. Minimum Requirements: Proven background in private household management, luxury hospitality or a senior domestic management role Exceptional organisational ability with the confidence to manage schedules, staff and logistics across two properties simultaneously Strong leadership skills – able to direct, support and motivate a small household team with fairness and professionalism An instinctive and deeply held respect for personal privacy and confidentiality Professional; calm demeanour with the ability to adapt quickly as plans and requirements change Basic maintenance knowledge – able to identify, manage and coordinate minor household maintenance requirements and liaise effectively with contractors Valid South African driver’s license and own reliable transport – essential Excellent communication skills in English Impeccable personal presentation Stable; long-term work history with outstanding and verifiable references – non-negotiable Key Responsibilities: ? Guest & Visit Coordination Manage the owner’s guest schedule across both properties Coordinate all arrivals, departures and room allocations Welcome and attend to guests throughout their stay Arrange and oversee all meals and refreshments Anticipate and accommodate special requests with discretion and efficiency ? Household & Staff Management Supervise housekeeping, catering and maintenance staff across both properties Maintain both residences to an impeccable standard at all times Manage stock, supplies, laundry and household inventory Liaise with contractors and service providers for maintenance and specialist requirements Identify and report basic maintenance issues, overseeing minor repairs and coordinating contractors as needed Ensure property security and full readiness at all times Package: Salary: R30,000 per month (individual) to R60,000 per month (couple) – negotiable depending on experience Live-out position (candidates with own local accommodation preferred) Single On-site accommodation option may be considered Clearly defined days off and annual leave agreed in advance All household budgets, tools, supplies and staff already in place Permanent; long-term position within a private household that values loyalty and continuity Should you feel you are the right fit for this role, please apply with your updated CV (and your partner’s CV if applying as a couple), contactable references and a recent head & shoulders photo ASAP! ?
