About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our team in Port Elizabeth. As a key member of our kitchen crew, you will assist senior chefs with daily food preparation and cooking duties, ensuring that all dishes meet our culinary standards and presentation expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior chefs with daily food preparation and cooking duties.
- Prepare ingredients and dishes according to set recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared and stored in line with health, safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations and kitchen equipment.
- Support the kitchen team during service periods to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist with stock rotation and minimising food waste.
Requirements
- Relevant culinary qualification or currently studying towards a professional chef qualification.
- Previous experience in a hotel, restaurant, or fine-dining kitchen (advantageous).
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Strong attention to detail and a passion for food and presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.
