About the Role
Abantu Staffing Solutions is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team in Port Elizabeth. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the electrical equipment in our paint shop, ensuring minimal downtime and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and handle all electrical equipment in the workshop
- Complete TPM-related activities as assigned by the maintenance supervisor on time
- Attend to breakdowns and repair equipment in a timely manner
- Ensure facility electrical installations comply with required regulations
- Support installation and assembly of new equipment
- Maintain equipment in an adequate state of repair for continuous production
- Adhere to lockout procedure before working on machines or equipment
- Perform daily management tasks, including work logs and maintenance records
- Support improvement activities when required
- Backup machine controller software and programs
- Perform duties as requested by the maintenance supervisor
- Regularly backup and manage important data, procedures, and parameters of equipment
- Be flexible to work additional hours at short notice due to operational requirements
- Undertake continuous improvement activities
- Promote company philosophies, policies, and values
- Adhere to quality requirements
- Identify and maintain plant Health and Safety
- Lead hourly workers and act as a multi-skilled worker
- Maintain and solve breakdowns on spray booth robots (Fanuc) and related equipment
- Maintain and solve breakdowns on ovens, airconditioning systems, and e-coat tanks
- Ensure lifts, conveyor systems, and EMS hangers are production-ready
- Possess knowledge of RO water systems, boilers, and cooling towers (advantage)
Requirements
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics qualification
- Trade-tested Electrician (advantageous)
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience in the automotive industry (preferred)
- Familiarity with electrical safety standards, regulations, and compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
