About the Role
AFWH is seeking a highly skilled Certified Checkpoint Engineer to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. As a key member of our IT infrastructure, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and security of our network’s Check Point firewall environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, manage, and maintain Check Point firewall environments across the network.
- Monitor firewall performance, traffic, and security events to ensure optimal protection and uptime.
- Implement and maintain security policies, NAT rules, VPNs, and threat prevention features (IPS, Anti-Bot, Anti-Virus).
- Troubleshoot network and security issues, including connectivity, latency, and packet inspection.
- Perform firmware upgrades, patching, and system hardening in line with best practices.
- Collaborate with network teams to design and support secure architectures (LAN, WAN, DMZ).
- Generate reports on firewall usage, threats, and compliance for management and audits.
- Support incident response and assist with root cause analysis and remediation.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of Check Point firewall configurations and security policies.
- Experience with network protocols and security event management.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Qualifications
- Certified Check Point engineer (CCIE or equivalent) required.
- Relevant work experience in network security and firewall administration.
