About the Role
We are seeking an experienced DB2 Support Specialist to join our team in Pretoria, South Africa. As a key member of our support team, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support and guidance on IBM DB2 databases and log analysis tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, upgrade and support IBM DB2 databases and log analysis tools
- Monitor database performance, tune queries and maintain database objects
- Use IBM DB2 Log Analyser to track DDL/DML changes , audit activity and generate compliance reports
- Support backup, recovery, restoration and disaster recovery processes
- Analyse logs to resolve incidents, identify root causes and improve performance
- Generate and execute JCL jobs for reporting, recovery and data loading
- Maintain database security, access control, encryption and audit trails
- Perform routine server maintenance and ensure systems remain updated and secure
- Provide knowledge transfer and documentation to support smooth handover to the client team
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience as a DB2 DBA in an IBM z/OS environment
- Experience in a production support environment on z/OS DB2
- Strong knowledge of Mainframe (MVS), DB2 for z/OS, SQL, CICS, JCL, Windows OS
- Experience with database administration, monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery and configuration management
