About the Role
The Impact Area Manager: Advanced Materials and Manufacturing will lead our research and development efforts in Pretoria, focusing on strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders to drive innovation and competitiveness. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in R&D project leadership, business management, and materials science expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Engage with target sector on strategic level and understanding of industry competitiveness drivers (product and manufacturing)
- Develop and implement research and development strategies aligned with company goals
- Build and maintain partnerships with industry stakeholders to drive innovation and growth
- Lead R&D project teams to deliver results-driven projects
- Foster a culture of innovation, risk-taking, and continuous learning within the team
Requirements
- Doctoral degree in materials sciences or engineering, or related fields (Metallurgical / Mechanical / Industrial Engineering expertise)
- At least 12 years post PhD experience in RDI and/or Manufacturing
- At least 8 years working experience in strategic leadership and/or business management at a senior level within the RDI sector
- Experience and skills in RDI project leadership
- Solid track record of SET capability building (HCD, R&D rigour and R&D infrastructure)
