About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Tyre Foreman to join their team in Akasia, Pretoria. As a key member of the workshop team, you will be responsible for overseeing all tyre-related operations, ensuring optimal tyre performance, and contributing to the reliability and safety of the fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and supervise tyre inspections, repairs, retreading, rotations, balancing, and replacements.
  • Ensure correct tyre pressure, alignment, and fitment according to manufacturer and company standards.
  • Diagnose tyre wear patterns and identify underlying mechanical issues.
  • Approve tyres fit for service and remove unsafe tyres from operation.
  • Lead, mentor, and supervise the tyre team/technicians.
  • Allocate daily tasks and ensure high-quality workmanship.
  • Conduct training on tyre handling, safety procedures, and best practices.
  • Manage tyre inventory, including new tyres, casings, and repaired tyres.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and report shortages.
  • Record tyre serial numbers, usage history, and scrap analysis.
  • Work with suppliers for procurement and warranty claims.
  • Conduct tyre checks on trucks, trailers, forklifts, and other fleet vehicles.
  • Monitor tyre performance and fuel efficiency impacts.
  • Maintain tyre records in fleet management systems.
  • Support roadside breakdowns when required.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 / Matric.
  • Certificate or relevant training in tyre maintenance (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in tyre fitting/maintenance for heavy-duty vehicles.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience with commercial truck tyres.

About the Role

The Tyre Foreman is a critical role that oversees the maintenance, repairs, and inspections of tyres for our fleet of commercial trucks. With 35 years of experience in heavy-duty vehicle tyre fitting and maintenance, we are seeking an experienced professional to lead our tyre team and ensure safety compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee tyre maintenance, repairs, inspections, and ensure safety compliance
  • Lead and supervise the tyre team, including training and task allocation
  • Manage tyre stock, inventory records, and supplier coordination
  • Support fleet operations through tyre checks, performance monitoring, and breakdown assistance
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and compile reports on tyre performance and incidents

Requirements

Basic computer literacy (Excel, tyre systems)

Valid Drivers License: B or EB (required), EC (advantage)

Physically fit ; able to handle heavy tyres and work outdoors/workshop environments

Strong knowledge of tyre brands, specs, and applications

Ability to diagnose tyre wear and identify root causes

Leadership, planning, and communication skills

Detail-oriented with strong safety focus

Qualifications

Gr 12 (required)

Certificate or relevant training in tyre maintenance (preferred)
