About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and competent Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Bloemfontein. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of staff in the workplace, adhering to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Identify hazards and implement corrective and preventative measures.
- Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, and near misses; compile reports and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate safety records, registers, and documentation.
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety training sessions, and awareness campaigns.
- Monitor and control the issuing and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Support emergency preparedness planning, fire safety compliance, and evacuation drills.
Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- National Diploma or Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety or related qualification
- SAMTRAC qualification (advantageous)
- Registered with SACPCMP as a Safety Officer (advantageous or required depending on project/site)
