Preparing layout, assembly and part drawings for components e.g body panels, drivers door, passenger entrance door, battery holders, air ducts, component parts
Creating and revising detailed technical drawings (2D AND 3D) using Solid Works software
Interpretating engineering drawings, specifications and design requirements for frames (door, underframe and side frames, chassis preparations, internal and external cladding, electrical diagrams)
Participating in design reviews and suggesting improvements for functionality and production efficiency
Assisting in prototype development and supporting the manufacturing process by providing technical documentation e.g SANS
Maintaining drawing database of the entire structure and ensuring version control of design files between manufacturer and service providers.
Qualifications & Skills
National Diploma or Certificate in mechanical Engineering
2 – 5 Years experience as a draughtsman
Must come from the Automotive or Manufacturing sector
Must be proficient in CAD Software (e.g SolidWorks)
Must have a good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and motor vehicle designing principles
