About the Role

Sea Harvest Corporation is seeking an experienced Skipper to join their Fleet sailing out of Saldanha Bay. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation of our fishing vessel, ensuring the safety of the crew, and navigating to optimal fishing grounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure total compliance with safe manning, all SAMSA, Maritime OSH, Class regulations and requirements.
• Comply with Company watch keeping procedures.
• Maintain legal compliance to Fishing Regulations and Permit conditions.
• Ensure that all machinery and equipment are maintained and kept in a good working condition.
• Care for and maintain fishing gear and equipment.
• Practice due care when fishing on hazardous grounds.
• Meet defined fishing and production targets as defined.
• Operate the vessel within allocated budgets.
• Maintain discipline and foster a harmonious working environment.
• Prioritize the transferring of skills by officers and managers.

Requirements

• Fisherman Grade 2 or Skipper experience with fishing > 24m (Limited Waters).
• Valid SAMSA Medical Certificate (unrestricted).
• Valid STCW documentation.
• Proven track record of Hake Bottom Trawling Fishing ability.
• Experience as a Freezer Trawler Skipper.
• Personnel management and safety awareness skills.
