Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensuring all operational processes and procedures are strictly followed
- Identify the exact quality and specification of the commodity purchased
- Maintain good customer relations and ensure customer satisfaction
- Identify and report fraudulent transactions
- Reject nonmetallic items and inferior quality metals
- Ensure records are updated and reconciled accurately for all items purchased and dispatched
- Ensure Company policies and procedures & Health & Safety regulations are adhered to
- Lead and supervise a team in order to achieve operational and goal orientated requirements
- Ensure that assistants thoroughly inspect scrap to be purchased and display all metals openly for photographing
- Ensure that the requirements of the Second-hand Goods Act are complied with when buying scrap by accurately recording all information required under the Act
- Disciplinary action and daily management of staff.
- Plant and equipment are maintained as per the maintenance schedule.
- Ensures that tasks are delegated to the different staff members within the department.
- Ensure that employees are properly trained and licensed for the machinery/equipment that they operate.
- Ensure that all production staff members wear the correct and required PPE at all times.
QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent.
- 5 years experience in a Supervisory position.
- A minimum of at least 5 years experience in a production industry.
- Computer literate – full Microsoft suite.
- Must be conversant with the Second-hand Goods Act.
- Good knowledge of H&S regulations.
- Scrap metal experience will be an advantage.
