Duties & Responsibilities
Quality Assurance and Quality Control:
- Conduct quality inspections on fabrication, welding, piping, structural steel and mechanical works.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with approved quality plans, procedures, drawings and client specifications.
- Monitor compliance with relevant codes, standards and project requirements.
- Prepare, review and maintain quality control records, inspection reports and supporting documentation.
Inspection and Testing:
- Perform visual inspections and verify dimensions, materials and workmanship.
- Witness and record inspections, pressure tests, NDT activities and related quality checks.
- Ensure Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), checklists and quality documentation are followed correctly.
- Identify defects, non-conformances and deviations from specifications and report them accordingly.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Compile quality dossiers, data books and final handover documentation.
- Ensure material certificates, calibration certificates, welding records and inspection reports are complete and up to date.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results and corrective actions.
- Liaise with supervisors, contractors and clients regarding quality-related matters.
Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure compliance with client specifications, company procedures and petrochemical industry standards.
- Support implementation of quality management systems and continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure all work is carried out in line with applicable safety, health, environmental and quality requirements.
- Participate in audits, toolbox talks and quality meetings where required.
Site Support and Coordination:
- Work closely with site teams, supervisors, welders, boilermakers and engineers to ensure quality standards are met.
- Monitor site activities to ensure approved procedures are being followed.
- Assist in resolving quality issues and provide feedback on corrective and preventative actions.
- Support shutdown, maintenance and project activities as required.
Experience & Qualification
- Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate.
- SAIW Level 2 (Fabrication and Welding Inspector)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in a QA/QC role within the petrochemical, construction, engineering or maintenance environment.
- Experience with welding, piping, mechanical and structural inspections will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of quality documentation, ITPs, NCRs and inspection procedures is essential.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, isometrics and specifications.
- Valid driver’s licence will be advantageous.
