About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Technical Estimator to join our team in Johannesburg. As a key member of our estimating department, you will be responsible for providing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for various projects. Your expertise in engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs) will enable us to deliver high-quality quotations and tender submissions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Prepare accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracted work
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
  • Compile professional, client-ready quotation documents
  • Assist with tender submissions, project proposals, and detailed cost breakdowns
  • Collaborate closely with Heads of Departments (HODs) to ensure accurate project scoping
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to process optimisation
  • Maintain and update pricing databases, historical cost records, and estimation tools
  • Communicate with clients, when necessary, to clarify technical requirements
  • Apply experience gained in fabrication and manufacturing environments

Requirements

  • Approximately 10 years’ experience in estimating, costing, or a similar technical role
  • Ability to confidently read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with computer systems
  • Advanced Excel skills are essential
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including report writing
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of production processes and manufacturing workflows
  • Proven supplier and subcontractor management skills

About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Technical Estimator to join our team in Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, liaising with suppliers, and compiling professional quotation documents for clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOMs
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for materials, labour, subcontractors, and equipment
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
  • Compile professional quotation documents for clients

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years experience in estimating, costing, or a similar technical role
