Agency Head / General Manager | Mozambique | Permanent

Lead the strategic direction of a nationally significant shipping operation. Shape growth, performance, and stakeholder confidence in a complex, fast-moving maritime environment.

This senior leadership role carries full accountability for strategy, operations, commercial performance, and people leadership. You will set the direction for the agency, ensure operational excellence across port and vessel activities, and represent the business with key customers, regulators, and partners.

You will be responsible for translating regional and global strategy into executable local plans, driving sustainable revenue growth while maintaining rigorous financial and compliance standards. The role requires a confident leader who can balance commercial ambition with operational discipline in a highly regulated industry.

What Youll Do

  • Define and execute a business strategy aligned to financial and operational objectives

  • Oversee end-to-end agency operations, including vessel schedules, cargo handling, and terminal coordination

  • Drive commercial growth through customer engagement, partnerships, and market development

  • Lead budgeting, cost control, and full P&L responsibility

  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing local leadership team

  • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and health & safety regulations

  • Represent the organisation with government bodies, regulators, and industry forums

  • Champion sustainability initiatives and operational innovation

What You Bring

  • Bachelors degree in business, supply chain, or maritime studies; MBA preferred

  • Minimum 10 years experience in shipping, logistics, or maritime environments

  • At least 5 years in a senior management or general management role

  • Proven track record in operational optimisation and business growth

  • Strong financial management capability with P&L ownership

  • Confident leadership style with experience managing diverse, cross-functional teams
