About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Resident Engineer to join our team on a South African infrastructure project. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in road construction, supervision, and contract administration, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records, correspondence, site instructions, drawings registers, and monthly progress reports.
- Assist in measurement and quantity calculations for payment certification and contract control.
- Ensure compliance with contract documentation and uphold the intent and requirements of the contract.
- Monitor and promote quality assurance and health & safety compliance on site.
- Verify contractor setting out and material quality through inspections and testing.
- Identify and report discrepancies or omissions in drawings and contract documents to the Resident Engineer (RE).
- Maintain effective communication between the RE, Contractor, and Client.
- Contribute to site meetings and ensure accurate documentation of instructions and decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (B.Eng) or equivalent qualification (e.g., B.Tech, National Diploma)
- Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) or eligibility for registration
- Minimum 8 years of experience on SANRAL and/or Provincial Roads projects
