About the Role
Hire Resolve’s client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their team in Bellville Western Cape. The successful candidate will have a passion for designing, manufacturing, and managing cutting-edge energy solutions, with a focus on state-of-the-art technologies and contributing to groundbreaking advancements in transformer manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to resolve process-related issues and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Evaluate shortcomings and areas for development in the technical team and make recommendations for improvement.
- Verify installation designs and methods, fault levels, and equipment specifications for projects when required.
- Assist with designs and ensure all incorporate appropriate safety standards while complying with company and statutory procedures.
- Research new technologies, materials, and processes relevant to our business.
- Supervise and/or coordinate technical investigations by internal parties.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.
- Liaise with customers regarding MV project design, proposals, and sign-off.
- Assist with MV & LV projects and generator projects.
- Participate in PV and battery storage projects.
- Drive root cause analysis, corrective actions, and preventative measures in cross-functional teams.
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements, and performance standards.
- Compile and maintain project plans using MS Project & Gantt Charts.
- Manage and develop staff effectively.
Requirements
- BSc Eng or BEng (Electrical)
- Professional registration with ECSA
- Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) will be an added advantage
- 5 – 8 years of senior-level experience in manufacturing, design, and projects environment
- Electrical Fault Level Calculations
- Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) Protection Systems and calculations
- Grounding system design and calculations
- Knowledge and experience in LV and MV installations, including transformers, switchgear, and related equipment
- Understanding of distribution transformer design, including solar, wind, and converter-type units
- Understanding of harmonics in an electrical network, mitigation, and analysis
- Knowledge of SABS 10142 (Parts 1&2) Wiring of Premises
- Investigate and analyze functionality issues on-site (e.g., earth fault tripping of RD3 relay on PV systems)
- Design and project knowledge of dry-type Minisub (cast resin)
- Experience in designing and implementing new technology (e.g., transformer protection panel expansion, HMI display duplication on mobile devices)
