About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled Back-End Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Cape Town. As a key member of our back-end development team, you’ll play a crucial role in building high-performance, scalable systems that support millions of users across South Africa. With a strong focus on security, reliability, and modern digital solutions, we’re seeking an expert who can deliver robust enterprise-grade systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain large-scale backend applications using Java and Spring Boot
  • Design and implement databases to meet the needs of our users
  • Integrate with Kafka for event-driven architecture
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration with frontend development
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in a timely manner

Requirements

  • 6+ years’ proven experience in back-end development, including project delivery and implementation
  • Experience working with modern back-end frameworks and technologies
  • Strong understanding of Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and AWS

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field (required)

Salary & Benefits

Up to R1.3m per annum, negotiable based on experience and capability
