About the Role

E-Merge, South Africa’s leading bank, is seeking an exceptional Back-End Software Engineer to join their high-performance engineering division. As part of their digital financial innovation journey, they require a technically strong and solutions-driven professional who thrives in complex systems and values clean, scalable architecture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-performance back-end systems using C# (.NET 7/8/9) and Python (FastAPI)
  • Implement and manage AWS cloud services (IAM, EKS, RDS, MSK/Kafka, Lambda, ElastiCache)
  • Utilize Infrastructure as Code using Terraform for environment-specific provisioning
  • Develop solid understanding of microservices architecture, REST/gRPC APIs, and event-driven design
  • Manage databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL) and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)
  • Implement containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and monitoring and observability tools (Instana, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)

Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in C# (.NET 7/8/9) and Python (FastAPI)
  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud services
  • Expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Solid understanding of microservices architecture and REST/gRPC APIs
  • Proficiency with databases and CI/CD tools
  • Knowledge of containerization and monitoring and observability tools
