About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Bandsaw Operator to join our food manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience operating bandsaw machines in an FMCG environment and possess a strong understanding of food safety standards, health and safety procedures, and quality control measures.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the bandsaw machine according to standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Accurately cut meat or raw materials to required specifications and tolerances
- Ensure maximum yield and minimal wastage during cutting operations
- Perform pre-operational checks and report any mechanical faults immediately
- Maintain the cleanliness of the workstation in line with food safety and hygiene standards
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times, including correct use of PPE
- Meet daily production targets and quality standards
- Assist with cleaning, sanitising, and shutdown procedures of equipment
- Complete basic production records and quality checks as required
- Work closely with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations
Requirements
- Minimum 12 years experience operating a bandsaw machine in a food manufacturing or FMCG environment
- Knowledge of food safety standards (HACCP, GMP, hygiene practices)
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures
- Physically fit and able to stand for long periods
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime if required
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Team player with good communication skills
Qualifications
- Grade 10 / Matric (preferred)
