About the Role
Mecs Africa is seeking an experienced Chief Electrician to join their offshore team on a DP Vessel. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience as a Chief Electrician on a pipelay vessel, with a proven track record of managing complex electrical systems and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordination and maintenance of laying equipment
- Supervising on-board electrical/electronic equipment, according with safety procedures
- Ensure the definition of maintenance work, setting priorities and proposing maintenance schedule
- Propose to the Chief Engineer the required quantity of material stock levels in order to maintain work continuity
- Ensure the supervision of work activities compliant to safety procedures and practices
- Ensure the efficiency of the electrical/electronic equipment
- Ensure the coordination of the electrical team for ordinary and extraordinary maintenance
- Evaluate the resources in own team
- Supervise personnel training in the workplace
- Ensure that the HSE targets defined for the vessel in the Annual HSE Programme are achieved
- Act as focal point for cyber security matters
- Ensure compliance with the cyber security model established by the Company and with the applicable standards
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Valid CompEx / Atex Certification
- Minimum 15 Years offshore DP Electrical experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Chief Electrician on a DP Vessel
- Extensive experience onboard a pipelay vessel
- K-POS Maintenance experience
- K-Chief Maintenance experience
- DP FMEA trial experience
- Experience managing the AMOS TMS maintenance system
- Previous managerial experience (managing minimum 15 people)
