About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Tracking Technician to join our team in the Western Cape region. As a hands-on technician, you will be responsible for installing and configuring vehicle tracking and fleet management systems, ensuring high-quality installations that meet company standards. You will work independently in the field, adapting installations based on vehicle types and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install and configure vehicle tracking and fleet management systems
  • Ensure all installations meet company quality and technical standards
  • Test and verify all installations before closing job cards
  • Conduct on-site fault finding, repairs, and technical adjustments
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship and quality control
  • Liaise professionally with clients on-site and provide support where required
  • Complete and manage job cards and installation documentation accurately
  • Communicate with the coordination team on job progress and challenges
  • Adapt installations based on vehicle types and operational requirements

Requirements

  • Matric or relevant technical qualification
  • Qualification in Automotive Electronics or Motor Mechanics (advantageous)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in vehicle tracking / telematics installations
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and automotive electronics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and wiring schematics
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Medically fit and willing to travel, including mining environments
  • Willing to work after hours and weekends when required
  • No criminal record and a stable work track record
  • Computer literate
