About the Role
Farm Manager SA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Crop Manager to oversee the management of our crop farm in South Africa. The successful candidate will have a strong background in crop farming, particularly with maize, soya, sugar beans, and wheat. They will be responsible for ensuring the best practice is implemented for preparing, planting, spraying, and harvesting crops. Bush clearing knowledge and mechanical skills are also essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the preparation, planting, spraying, and harvesting of crops
- Implement ley cropping in newly cleared areas (Sunhemp, Millets, and Oats)
- Procure fertilizers, chemicals, and seed for crop management
- Prepare budgets and accounts as required
Requirements
- Agricultural Diploma or Degree
- Previous experience in crop farm management (maize, soya, sugar beans, and wheat)
- Knowledge of GPS, drone-related mapping, and crop evaluation
- Sound working knowledge of all aspects of precision farming
- Mechanical and maintenance-oriented essential with workshop and spares management
- Computer literate
- Good admin and record-keeping ability
- Ability to motivate and manage a large labor force
- Proficiency in Swahili, Lingala, and French
