About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS/Data Analyst to join our team at Greys Recruitment in Bellville, South Africa. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for gathering and supporting requirements for spatial product development and data analysis projects, as well as designing, building, and maintaining GIS mapping products and analysis layers using ESRI tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather and support requirements for spatial product development and data analysis projects
  • Clean, manage, and maintain spatial and non-spatial datasets following best practices
  • Design, build, and maintain GIS mapping products and analysis layers using ESRI tools
  • Integrate GIS and other data sources into internal systems and dashboards
  • Assist with geodatabase design, schema development, and data standards
  • Support automation and management of GIS infrastructure and workflows
  • Conduct QA/QC on geospatial data to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Develop and present geospatial outputs including maps, dashboards, and ESRI StoryMaps
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple regions

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of academic experience with some professional exposure in GIS, data analysis, or related fields
  • Experience working with ESRI ArcGIS Suite, QGIS, or similar GIS software
  • Proficiency in SQL or similar database languages
  • Strong understanding of geospatial concepts, projections, and spatial data formats (e.g. shapefiles, GeoJSON, file geodatabases)
  • Experience analysing and working with large, complex datasets
  • Ability to build mapping products, dashboards, and data visualisations
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
