About the Role

The Lodge Manager is responsible for the overall management and operation of the lodge to ensure a high standard of guest experience, efficient service delivery, and sustainable business practices. The role includes overseeing daily lodge activities, managing staff, maintaining guest satisfaction, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of lodge operations including guest services, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and security.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise lodge staff to maintain professional standards and enhance team performance.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure smooth running of the lodge in accordance with company standards and local regulations.
  • Monitor guest feedback and address any issues promptly to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare and manage budgets, monitor financial performance, and implement cost control measures.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and manage inventory to ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement of goods and services.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, environmental regulations, and licencing requirements.
  • Promote the lodge through marketing initiatives and build relationships with travel agents, tour operators, and other partners.
  • Report regularly to senior management on operational performance, guest satisfaction, and financial results.
  • Foster a positive working environment that supports teamwork, staff development, and retention.

Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business Administration or related field.
  • Proven experience in lodge, hotel, or resort management, preferably within a safari or eco-tourism environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing diverse teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to hospitality operations.
  • Proficient in using standard office software and property management systems.
