Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join our luxury lodge in Welgevonden, South Africa. As a critical member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all lodge infrastructure, guest areas, staff facilities, vehicles, and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety, functionality, and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preventative and Corrective Maintenance
  • Implement and manage a preventative maintenance programme across guest rooms, public areas, staff accommodation, back-of-house areas, and utilities
  • Conduct regular inspections and address maintenance issues promptly
  • Carry out hands-on maintenance across electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, welding, and general repairs
  • Maintain generators, solar systems, water systems, sewage systems, and firefighting equipment

Requirements

  • Strong technical knowledge across general building maintenance disciplines
  • Ability to troubleshoot independently in a remote location
  • Good leadership, organisational, and planning skills
  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to emergencies

Qualifications

  • Minimum 35 years experience in a maintenance role, preferably within a safari lodge or remote hospitality environment
  • Proven supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Trade qualification (electrician, plumber, carpenter, or similar)
  • Basic knowledge of generators and water treatment systems preferred

Salary & Benefits

  • R10,000 per month CTC
  • Live-in position in a remote bush environment with three weeks on, seven days off roster
  • 5% Provident Fund (compulsory, not part of CTC)
  • Uniform and meals provided
