About the Role
Proficient Packaging, a well-established packaging manufacturer based in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs, is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-orientated Production Planner to join their dynamic team. The ideal candidate will oversee aspects of the supply chain, focusing on planning and procurement of products and production schedules, with a key focus on elevating production to the next level and supporting company growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Planning, scheduling, and coordinating the production of the company’s products.
• Translating sales forecasts into feasible daily and weekly production plans.
• Ensuring optimal use of raw materials, equipment, and labour to meet customer delivery dates.
• Monitoring capacity constraints, maintenance schedules, and staffing levels.
• Communicating plans effectively to the production floor.
• Tracking performance data daily including target output and waste.
• Coordinating closely with stores for material availability and with supervisors for floor-level execution.
• Collaborating with quality control, stores, workshop, and the sales team to ensure optimal production.
• Maintaining accurate planning records for audits.
Requirements
Grade 12
Tertiary qualification in Supply Chain / Production / Industrial Engineering
Minimum of 3 years work experience in a Planning capacity or similar roles within a manufacturing environment
Good Excel proficiency (non-negotiable) for data analysis and planning tasks
Good understanding of EPR systems and forecasting tools
