About the Role
We are seeking a junior embedded software developer to join our team in Kempton Park, South Africa. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for building reliable and efficient low-level software in C/C++ that runs close to the hardware. You will work closely with sensors/actuators, communicate with other devices, and support diagnostics and field reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Build reliable, efficient low-level software in C/C++ that runs close to the hardware
- Interface with sensors/actuators and communicate with other devices
- Support diagnostics and field reliability
- Investigate bugs that involve both hardware and software
- Improve maintainability across product variants
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science
- 1-2 years of experience in embedded software development
- Proficiency in Git (daily use)
- Basic knowledge of SSH for remote access/auth
- Familiarity with Docker for dev/test environments
- Linux terminal basics, including shell usage, logs, processes, and file permissions
- Networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, ports, and basic troubleshooting
- API design fundamentals, including how devices/services expose data and commands, and clear interface definitions
