About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Sales & Marketing Director to join our East African luxury safari company as a remote leader. This senior role is responsible for driving global sales performance, strengthening international trade relationships, and ensuring strong alignment between sales strategy, marketing activity, and reservations execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and executing the overall sales and marketing strategy across international source markets, with clear revenue targets and performance metrics
- Leading, mentoring, supervising, and supporting sales representatives across key markets, including recruitment in uncovered regions where required
- Supporting sales representatives in managing and strengthening relationships with major international agents and tour operators
- Developing, managing, and strengthening relationships with African DMCs to ensure effective collaboration, rate alignment, and brand representation
- Representing the brand at key international trade shows, roadshows, and industry events
- Overseeing marketing activity across digital, print, PR, and brand communications to ensure consistency, effectiveness, and return on investment
- Maintaining close oversight of rate strategy, market mix, demand trends, and competitor positioning
- Overseeing the reservations department and its manager, ensuring strong alignment between sales strategy, inventory management, and booking execution
- Ensuring accuracy, discipline, and reporting across reservations systems, sales pipelines, and performance data
Requirements
- 10+ years proven senior sales and marketing leadership experience within the East African luxury safari lodge sector
- Strong international trade network, including tour operators, travel designers, country representatives, agents, and African DMCs
- Demonstrated experience managing, mentoring, and growing sales teams across multiple markets
- Strong commercial acumen with experience in forecasting, budgeting, and revenue performance analysis
- Sound understanding of reservations systems and the operational realities of converting demand into confirmed bookings

- Formal education/certifications (Bachelor’s, LLB, Matric, etc.)
